LA GALLERIA

Updated: Sep 18, 2020

By FARAMONES

I've been hard at work creating select luxury pieces for the FARAMONES women inspired by art and unconventional design, who appreciate the energy and playfulness of vibrant colour and who dare to blur the line between boldness and extravagance.

The "La Galleria" collection is inspired by my first trip to Milan in 2016. Stepping off the train and onto the platform on that rainy day, the first image to welcome me was a gigantic 1950's inspired D&G poster ad. A short moment later, a young man who appeared to be either a design student or stylist came running in my direction, clearly late for his train, wearing the most  magnificent brightly coloured floor length coat and platform brogues, the coat billowing behind him as he continued running in "heels" with all the grace and elegance you'd expect from an Italian. I knew right then I'd be visiting Milan regularly :)

This past weekend I spent some time shooting these new pieces which will feature online at faramones.com by the end of August. These "behind-the-scenes" images captured by my husband and friends already bring the magic of the garments to life.

Sunday being the first hint of a real sunshine in weeks meant that the beach was unexpectedly swarming. There we were, shooting the Grand Shearling Coat in all its glory, with an audience of scantily clad beach-goers. Needless to say, there were many puzzled stares! But our beautiful mountain in the background made for a perfect backdrop, and it was all worthwhile:) I cant wait to share this campaign with you soon and hear your feedback on what we've created.

As you know and have come to appreciate, my garments are handmade in Cape Town, materials are locally sourced and in some instances, Leather and Shearling hides are hand-dyed to achieve a desired colour.

Garments are custom made, with a lead time of 15 business days. This will be a limited range.

With love, FARAH
